Microchipping
IHWT promotes the microchipping of all equines. This is a tiny chip which is placed into the muscle of an animal which contains a code number. All IHWT horses and ponies are identifiable by microchip.

Passport
Under EU Directive EU Commission Decision 2000/68/EEC all equidae will require Passport Identification.

This is due to come into effect in 2004.

For further information contact The Irish Horse Board, Maynooth Business Campus, Maynooth, Co Kildare. Tel (01) 5053584

IHWT has made a submission to Department of Agriculture regarding the introduction of passport control and the necessity for micro-chipping to be done in conjunction with this for all equines.
